Reasons To DisagreeEvery year they change their minds on what is bad for you. Obesity isn't solely caused by 'bad' foods but also be genetics and lack of exercise. 30 September 2005
Tax is NOT, as many seem to think, the answer to ANY of our prob's let alone all of 'em! Again - Nanny - mind your own business! 17 February 2008

The problem with fatty foods etc is not an argument to restrict people's freedom to choose to eat them but an argument against a public health system. 27 August 2012
Too expensive to adminsister. Damn right 14 August 2014

Reasons To AgreeYou know, not only fat people buy sugar. But it would help to get their fingers out their bums and lose some weight. 16 February 2009
Absolutely. I work in Sth Auckland and the footpaths are swarming with local kids that are nearly all extremely fat and chowing down on pies and coke and lollie-this must be their breakfast as I drive through between 7.30am and 8.30am. These consumeables are treats and should not be seen as the staple diet. Make them expensive. But also, there needs to be EDUCATIOn on health. At school I never learnt anything about health. Custard pies and sausage rolls were ok. Luckily at home I had parents who grew their own veges and we eat well. From the girth and the amount of chins these kids possessed pointed to the fact that instead of a vege patch in their back lawns they have empty kfc boxes. I don't eat lobster. Wanna know why? It's just too dam expensive. 17 July 2009

Reasons for Remain Neutral
in isolation it wont work, but as part of a comprehensive strategy that included making healthier foods cheaper, it's not an unreasonable consideration. Unlikely politicians have the political will to do this tho.
