Reasons To AgreeObviously increasing Police numbers will help reduce crime in our society but this is not the only change we need. 27 September 2007
More police on the beat is one of the few ways to prevent crime that actually work. If every crime is punishable by the death penalty but you have no cops to enforce the law, the crime rate would be higher than it is now. Sentencing is obviously still important, but you need to catch the criminals in the first place. 2 February 2008

Reasons for Remain Neutral
Probably - but better use of what we have is more important. Skip the revenue-gathering, form-filling and PC requirements - get them out on the streets catching crim's.
