WHY? There is no logical reason whatever for a tax on aviation fuel. It would serve no useful purpose. 22 December 2009

Reasons To AgreeAll countries should sign a treaty to ensure that international aviation and shipping contribute to the costs of environmental initiatives. Saying that motorists should pay for their pollution, farmers and energy producers, but not airlines is crazy. A tax would encourage less people into the air, and therefore decrease global warming. The revenue raised could be used to purchase land to establish new forests and regional parks. 3 October 2008
