Reasons To DisagreeRe-use has sanitary implications, food poisoning, dangerous chemicals, disease etc. Recycling ensures sanitation. 5 September 2005
Reuse great but recycling is still better than throw away/waste so I say reuse and recycle to limit waste. 14 September 2005
Possibly - obviously you have to analyse the costs/benefits. 22 December 2009

Reasons To AgreeSimply because reuse involves no added input of energy to re-manufacture and distribute, it obviously is better for the environment, provided items being re-used are used in a manner that is fit for the purpose (ie don't re-use newspaper in the toilet wher it clogs the sewers) Don't re-use containers that have contained toxic or dangerous chemicals. That container that had the Roundup shouldn't be re-used as a drink bottle! 13 August 2005
Nothing to dispute there, it is a statement of scientific fact. Pity that reuse is so inappropriate in many cases. 20 April 2006
Yes, however, as indicated above, it would need to be accompanied by education about appropriate re-use situations. 25 May 2006
